Hello Friends and Happy Superbowl Sunday! I hope everyone had a great but safe day with friends and/or family. As I have mentioned before I live at an off campus apartment near GV, which means that I'm only a 20 min drive from downtown Grand Rapids. Words cannot describe how much I love this city. Not only do you have city life, but you have so many things to discover! Today, my roommate and I took a trip to East Grand Rapids and we found the cutest little shops! These are shops and local owned small businesses, I seriously fell in love with. Rebel, our first stop, was what I would describe as a modern boho feel. It offered things from planners to earrings to mugs and even to stickers. I personally bought a daily affirmations print, a bath bomb bar, a book, and some stickers for a friend. For anyone who loves trendy current events, this store is for you! I loved all the boob themed things and how this store had a very open and honest vibe to it. They sold products for feminism, BLM, curse word items, and just plain wholesome mugs. I'll post some pics of the things I bought and some pics of the store for those interested; although I do recommend everyone go and check them out and support your local small businesses in this time of need. We also went to a shop called Woosah which was more of a rustic-chic nature inspired store. Here, I bought a book called 50 adventures in the 50 states which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like, and is indeed an activity to do in each of the states. Being a person that loves to travel, this book was right up my alley and and I couldn't resist. I almost purchased a book that was about all the national parks and would look great as both a decor item and a small read.
Slightly different topic but, let's talk plants. My roommate is so into them and raves that they bring serotonin. I'm the type of person that forgets that you have to water them, so they die. But, I got dragged into yet another small business called the Plant Parlor. Right when you walk in, you are immediately drawn to the mass covered wall and the nature-y smell in the air. Of course, being called the Plant Parlor you'd expect nothing less than plants everywhere the eye can see. I had to see if the rumors were true, and sure enough, bought a Neon Pothos plant because I was told it was an easy beginner plant. I'll keep you updated on how being a plant mom goes for me.
Without the help of my roommates, and of course, instagram and google I wouldn't have known these amazing places would have existed. If you're in the area, or just want to go for an adventure(which is a totally fun idea), I highly highly recommend these shops! I'll have their locations linked down below. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day and stay your amazing, beautiful(or handsome) selves! Remember, shop small and support your local small businesses!
